Program, 45th Class Reunion
July 7, 2007
Good Evening and Welcome!  It is so exciting to welcome 184 of us tonight.  That number includes 62
spouses (or significant others). Thank you for coming.  Just to share a little information with you - we have
14 classmates here tonight from out of state (including CO, NV, AZ, DC, NM, NC, GA, CA, MD, IL NY, &
WA).  If you came tonight from outside of Texas, will you please stand?

Another thing – so many of you have mentioned and shared pictures of your grandchildren.  Not I!   I don’t
have a grandchild – not a single one!  BUT I do have a picture of my cat. (
shows picture of a calico cat).  If
you do NOT have grandchildren, will you please stand?  Thank you.  Feel free to share with everyone
here the picture of your pets.

We’ve had a terrific reunion committee.  I’m going to start by asking Carol Colby Holmgreen to stand
because she has put together your directory.  She not only collected your forms, assembled all the
information you sent and entered the information so that it could be printed, she also added fun pages
like “where we live” and “maroon meanderings.”  And Judy Pinckard please stand.  It’s thanks to Judy
Pinckard and Priority Copy that the directory is so beautifully printed.  Okay – here’s the rest of your hard
working committee (please stand) – Steve Bone, Pam Ward Chamberlain, MaryAnna Jesse Dickens, Liz
James Duncan, Scott Erwin, Cathia Gantz, David Gregg, Dinah Ledbetter Guerrero, Tom Hill, Sherry
Martin Hill, Jane Cornick Jamison, Carolyn Aldridge McFarland, Tina McGaughey, Margie Sanford – and
two people who should have been from our class – George Holmgreen and Jerry Spinmeister Tapley.
Take a close look.  These are the people you need to talk to about ideas for our 50th reunion!

We have some special guests tonight (actually they are special classmates.)  When Harvey Abbett walked
across the stage to get his diploma, he accepted 3 diplomas – one for himself and one each for his
parents.    It seems they attended night school and graduated with us in the class of 1962.   They are
here tonight.  Margie and Uhland Abbett and Harvey Abbett, we’d like to extend a special welcome to you.
Will you please stand?     I’ve ask Scotty Erwin to come up – and do the honors of presenting one of our
popular teachers, Mr. Corkey Robinson.

Scotty writes in the directory about how the threads of our class are more tightly woven than most
classes.  We are lucky to have maintained these friendships all these years.  I would like to remind you
about our Web site and the importance of referencing it and sharing information with us.  We hope you’ll
share your pictures, news about classmates, help us find missing classmates, etc.  Please keep our
business card handy; you’ll note it’s two-sided.  Contact me if you have e-mail and street address
changes – and if you have photos or other news, keep in touch with our talented webmaster, Carol Colby
Holmgreen.

Thank you for your fun bumper sticker suggestions.  If you created one, Carol printed it for you.  We hope
you’ll find yours and take it home!  Please leave the others so we can mail them to those who aren’t here.
The photographer is here until 10:00 so be sure to get the pictures you want before then.  This is
important!  His web site address is
takeourpicture.com.  Jerry has 37 hours of “Oldies but Goodies”.  If you
have special requests let him know – and throughout the evening, feel free to twist, bop or whatever.

Finally – please take a minute to note in the front of the directory those classmates who are no longer with
us.  They are each one special.  I would like to mention Charlie Guerrero because he was such an
enthusiastic and loyal committee member.  I think he truly was in spirit our “45th chairman.”

We need to get busy with visiting, catching up and laughing.  We have until 11:00 – but before we do,
Theo and Tina will you come forward and lead us in “Loyal Forever”?
